Fiona McGee BMus (Hons) - Harpist

Fiona Isabelle McGee was born in 1978 and raised in Welwyn Garden City, Hertfordshire. At the age of six she started lessons on the Violin and Clarsach Harp. She then progressed to the Concert Harp and had lessons with Daphne Boden. Fiona joined the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in 1989 where she studied Harp with Charlotte Seale, Cello with Gillian Thody and Composition with Gary Carpenter and Jeffrey Wilson. She then comtinued her Harp studies with Hugh Webb whilst taking her A-levels at Knights Templar School in Baldock.
Fiona graduated from the Birmingham Conservatoire of Music in 2001 with a BMus (Hons) degree in music having studied the Harp with Robert Johnston. Fiona is presently living in Knebworth and is in demand as a teacher and soloist for recitals, orchestral work, and background music for weddings and other such functions in and around Hertfordshire and London.
Fiona has recently performed as resident Harpist on board the Queen Mary 2 Ocean Liner and on the Queen Victoria for the world cruise, where alongside playing lounge music, she gave recitals and accompanied poetry readings for "Harps and Hearts" with actors and actresses from the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts. |
